Crispy Baked Broccoli & Almond Bites with Chilli-Lime Dip

Close up and title of recipe: Broccoli & Almond Bites

When You’re Craving Something Salty and Crunchy

We all know the feeling. You’re tired, a little stressed, maybe even bored. Suddenly the craving hits for something salty, crunchy, and satisfying: chips, crackers, pretzels, fries.

The problem is, these snacks give you a quick hit of pleasure but leave you worse off. Blood sugar spikes and crashes. Cravings that just get stronger. The slippery slope of “I’ll just have one more” until the whole bag is gone.

But what if you could have a salty, crunchy snack that actually worked with your body? A snack that crushed cravings, kept you satisfied for hours, and even supported your weight loss goals?

That’s exactly what today’s Recipe for the Weekend delivers.

Why This Recipe Works So Well

This recipe is more than a tasty bite. Every ingredient is chosen to support the things that really matter when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off:

  • Craving control: The combination of fiber from broccoli and healthy fats from almonds and avocado calms the brain’s “reward system” that drives salt and carb cravings.
  • Blood sugar balance: Unlike chips or fries, this snack won’t send your blood sugar soaring, which means no crash later and no urgent hunt for something sweet.
  • Satiety and energy: Protein and fiber together signal fullness to your hunger hormones, keeping you satisfied for hours. That means no rummaging in the pantry 30 minutes later.
  • Hormonal balance and metabolism: The magnesium, vitamin C, and plant compounds in broccoli and avocado help reduce cortisol (your stress hormone), one of the hidden drivers of stubborn weight gain around the belly.

This is how you flip cravings from your enemy into your ally. Instead of trying to “be good” and fight against them, you give your body what it’s really asking for: nourishment, balance, and satisfaction.

Crispy Baked Broccoli & Almond Bites with Chilli-Lime Dip

Craving a salty, crunchy, satisfying snack?

  • Author: Ross

Ingredients

Scale

200g broccoli florets, finely chopped (almost rice-like)
80g almond meal
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
½ teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
½ teaspoon Himalayan salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons water

For the Chili-Lime Dip:
½ ripe avocado
Juice of 1 lime
Pinch of chili powder
Pinch of Himalayan salt
2 tablespoons water (to thin)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

In a food processor, pulse broccoli until finely chopped (like rice).

Transfer to a bowl and add almond meal, flaxseed, parsley, garlic, lime juice, chili flakes, salt, pepper, and water. Mix until it holds together.

Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture, shape into bite-sized rounds or patties, and place on the tray.

Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.

For the dip, blend all ingredients until smooth. Adjust thickness with water.

Serve hot broccoli-almond bites with the creamy, tangy dip.
