Can you really lose almost 10 pounds and drop your blood pressure by 15 points in just 21 days, and without medication? According to a recent alkaline diet weight loss clinical study, the answer is yes. And this was not from extreme dieting, punishing exercise, or the latest weight-loss drug.
It was simply from following an alkaline diet with proper hydration.
The trial, conducted in 2021, involved 100 patients with hypertension. Half were placed in the control group, continuing with standard hypertension care. The other half, 50 patients, followed a nurse-led alkaline program for three weeks.
This program was not even as alkaline as I would usually recommend, but it did include more fruits, vegetables, and legumes, cutting down on acid-forming foods, and drinking more water. Simple, practical steps.
The results were extraordinary. After just three weeks:
- Average weight dropped from 78.8 kg to 74.5 kg, a loss of 4.3 kg (almost 10 lbs).
- Systolic blood pressure fell from 148 to 133, a 15-point drop.
- Diastolic blood pressure dropped from 96 to 83.5.
These are the kinds of changes you would normally only see with first-line emergency medications, yet here they came from food and hydration alone.
And the improvements did not stop there. The lipid profile improved dramatically:
- Total cholesterol dropped 43 points, from 228 to 185.
- LDL (“bad” cholesterol) dropped 37 points.
- Triglycerides dropped 45 points.
- HDL (“good” cholesterol) increased by 25 points, offering powerful protection for the cardiovascular system and brain.
Meanwhile, the control group, continuing with standard care, saw virtually no change.
So in just three weeks: lower blood pressure, better cholesterol, reduced triglycerides, higher HDL, and nearly 10 pounds gone.
Why is this so important? Because we are constantly being told that health change has to be complicated. We are bombarded with multiple medications, endless diet rules, calorie counting, restriction, and pain. But this study proves the opposite. When you focus on fundamentals, stay consistent, and work with your body, huge changes happen, and quickly.
This is exactly what I see in my private eight-week alkaline diet weight loss coaching groups too. People often come in overwhelmed, feeling like they have tried everything. But once we get back to the basics, the results come fast, often dramatically.
The bottom line: alkaline-forming foods, reducing acid load, and proper hydration. It is not theory. It is proven, and it works.
