Cleaning your SuperGreens Bottle
It has troubled me for a long time, and the introduction of the trusty grip n’ sip bottle (the one with the handle) only compounded my woe – how on earth do you keep your SuperGreens bottle clean!
Now – if you have never owned one of these bottles you will still know what I mean – water bottles get messy and their improbably angles make them impossible to clean!
The quandry is three-fold:
- The nooks and crannys of a water bottle are impossible to reach.
- Green drinks/ SuperGreens or other supplements (whatever your preffered brand) stain water bottles a strange green colour
- Water that is hot enough to remove the marks actually melts the bottle!
I had resorted to some very strange cleaning implements (including a fork with a cloth wrapped around it – it was a low point) – but now I have the answer. In true Kim and Aggie style I present to you:
The Ultimate SuperGreens Bottle Cleaning Recipe!
Ingredients:
Half of a lemon
3-4 slightly crushed ice cubes
1 tablespoon of salt
A little water
Cut the lemon into quarters and add all ingredients to the water bottle – then shake it all up! Don’t be afraid to get into a groove while shaking – I recommend the Buena Vista Social Club to have a shake to.

Indeed, there are problems with some plastic bottles with more and more research pointing to potential problems with many types of plastic that have until now been deemed as safe.
We are actively looking into this area at energisforlife.com so watch this space!
If in doubt, make sure your bottle is at least dishwasher safe and wide enough to be able to be thoroughly cleaned after each use.

I haven’t been able to find out if the bottles are polypropylene #5 PP or polycarbonate #7 PC.
Can anyone tell me? It should say on the bottom of the bottle which it is.
There’s a lot of info on the web about the dangers of using Polycarbonate bottles. They
are said to leach toxins into the water. Polypropylene bottles are recommended for this
reason.

Yup – we have all been there – glad that this has helped! I find it is best to have two or three supergreens bottles on the go at any given time and to leave them soaking overnight.
