Health & Diet Blog Round Up: #8
We are finally back with our Friday Health & Diet Blog Round Up after having a break over the two bank holiday weekends.
I am sure you all loved the free time as much as we did and maybe either left the country as apparently 12 million Brits did or you were glued to the TV watching Kate and Will’s more or less spectacular wedding kiss instead!
Well we are back to reality and might have to face the effects of some of the Easter indulgencies we enjoyed over the holidays … even the most alkaline followers here might have got tempted by some tasty chocolate bunnies! That’s why it is very important to get back on track and devote ourselves to the healthier things in life.
We have gathered some interesting and informative blog posts from the vast world of health and diet again for you, which we would like to share with you.
So here we go:
- Heart Disease and Cancer – The Global Threat Omitted from the MDGs. Sarah Boseley has written a highly informative article about the fact that so-called “non-communicable” diseases like cancer, heart disease and respiratory diseases do not grab the attention they deserve compared to infectious diseases such as Aids and TB. According to her these type of diseases get more funding by donors, as they are of an infectious nature. If you are interested to read more about this, then click here.
- Too Little Sleep May Raise Colon Cancer Risk. Dr Weil writes about how too little sleep may raise colon cancer risk besides the risk of obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Beyond that, laboratory studies have suggested that sleep deprivation may elevate the body’s production of stress hormones, boost blood pressure and increase substances in the blood that are responsible for increasing inflammation in the body. Hence make sure to get your recommended 8 hours sleep a night and click here to read his full article.
- Symptoms of Iodine Deficiency. Dr. Group who founded the Global Healing Center, which is dedicated to natural health and organic living, in 1998, points out in his blog post the various symptoms of an iodine deficiency. He emphasises that this is globally a major health issue and that the WHO (World Health Organisation) estimates that more than 2 billion people are iodine efficient. If you would like to know how to prevent this then click here to read his blog post.
- The Connection Between Menopause and Allergies. This blog post by Dr Isaac Eliaz, who is an integrative medical doctor, is particularly interesting for women who have reached their menopause years and are suffering from various allergies. In his article he makes a link Menopause, Adrenals and Allergies. If you would like more information on this topic then click here.
- The Truth About The Worlds Water Supply. A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans, an Associated Press investigation shows. This blog post by the Alkaline Diet Network highlights the amount of impurities found in our worlds water supply, which is such a scary fact. Click here to read all the details about this shocking truth.
That’s it for this week, but please check back next Friday for another round of health & diet news!
