Horses for Courses, Houses for Bellies
Again, full kudos to Jim @ Diet-Blog for unearthing this article/research over at Alchemic Spot is both amusing and a bit sad at the same time.
The article summises that Americans are buying bigger houses to fit their bigger stomachs:
However, it would be equally easy to proffer that as people have become more affluent they have relaxed about diet, enjoyed more food, bought more toys that distract them from exercise etc.
I think affluence (and therefore bigger houses) would probably be a more salient measure to compare to obesity (i.e. affluence vs obesity) but still – it is a very interesting correlation none the less.
It would be even more interesting to see if this correlation also occurs in other affluent nations – particularly the UK…
